Riding
The landscape in our part of Norway is dominated by rather dry and open pine wood forest, and between the trees you can see hills and mountains. The riding tracks we follow also have their own cultural history: The paths are old summer cottage tracks, they were used in spring and autumn when horses, cattle, sheep and pigs were moved from the farm to the summer cottage. The forest roads are both old and modern transport tracks for timber.While riding you will most likely see some of the animals typical for the region: Elk, roe, hares and the big forest birds. Norwegian forestry horses are very well suited for riding in forest and other places where the ground is uneven. Their broad backs make them very steady, and their movements are soft and pleasant. Our forestry horses are especially trained for moving in the forest because they are also used as timber horses.
We can offer you several kinds of adventures:
Riding lessons: If you are inexperienced with horseback riding, it is definitely necessary with basic lessons, even for short and very slow rides in the forest.Riding lessons can be ordered for children or adults , as private lessons or group lessons. Take contact by phone: (+47) 62417594
Rides in the forest: · We arrange rides in the forest only on request, though usually we are able to arrange rides on rather short notice. Rides can be ordered on all days of the week.
· Rides can be ordered for 1, 2 or 3 hours, if you want longer rides, see below: Group rides.
· There is always an experienced guide leading the rides, and the choice of tracks and tempo will always be planned according to your wish. No extra charge for the guide.
· We supply you with safety helmets with no extra charge.
· Children below 9 years of age will not be permitted to go for rides in the forest, but we can offer several other kinds of riding activities for them.
· Children between 9 and 13 years are permitted to go for rides in the forest only when one adult person beeing in charge of them is participating in addition to the guide.
· If you are visiting the region in the wintertime, we specially recommend you to try our winter rides and elk safari on horse back. We keep riding – and sledge driving tracks open in the forest in wintertime, and riding in the snow is a very special and beautiful adventure !

The Norwegian Dølehorses were traditionally used for transport of people and goods necessary for the production in summer cottages in the mountains Our mountain rides with dølehorses offers you a genuin touch of this unique and still living tradition
The mountain rides is an adventurous journey through Norwegian
nature and culture. The Norwegian dølehorses are very steady and comfortable to ride, their legs are solid and they are built and trained for moving with riders and heavy loads in mountain areas.
We stay in a very nice high mountain hotel which is situated in the
middle of a summer cottage area with traditional dairy production
with domestic animals. We eat breakfast and make lunch packages to
take with us on the hotel in the morning, go on long rides every
day, and we are served a late dinner when we come back in the
evening. At the hotel you can shower, go to sauna, and enjoy
pleasant company in the comfortable facilities at the hotel, or you
can go for walks to visit the summer cottages. It is therefore absolutely necessary for the participants to be very well trained and experienced riders.
