Forestry has always been an important part of the total
income sources. Forestry
is a natural and important part of Norwegian farming. Most of the activity
is carried out during the wintertime. The sap is then withdrawn
from the trunks and the frozen ground and the snow makes it easy to pull
out the timber without damage. In our region manual forestry with horses or
an ordinary farm tractor has long traditions. Most of the
productive forest is owned by the farmers themselves, the forest is
therefore treated with care .The amount of ripe timber being harvested by
one generation must instantly be replanted, to secure the income sources for the next generation. Vegetation and fauna
are natural concerns of the farmer carrying out his forestry, game resources also being important income
sources. We arrange guided walks for visitors, and you can choose among topics as:
We serve food by camp fire on theese
walks, and it is also possible to participate in forest work with horse if
you wish. If you want further information about
possibilities for hunting, see Hunting We also recommend
you to pay a visit to the Norwegian Museum of Forestry, Hunting and
Fishing, which is
situated in Elverum city, only 5 km from our
farm.
