Midtskogen Gård

 -  A farm with forestry and free range animals   -

On the map you will find our farm in the eastern part of Norway, 5 km west of Elverum city, close by road  no. 3, a main road between Oslo and Trondheim.
Distance from: Oslo: 125 km, Hamar: 25 km, Trysil: 70km
 Owners are Eva Avkjern and Karl Espenes. 

Eva is educated as a teacher, and Karl has an education in agriculture and accounts.

The farm was established in 1740, as a summer cottage for milkproduction, and developed to be a farm around 1850. An important event in modern Norwegian history took place here 9. of April in 1940, when the Germans were stopped in their attempt to capture the Norwegian king and government..

Midtskogen Gård is an all year open farm and lodginghouse. We welcome you to see, touch and feel live  Norwegian traditions: 

-         Free range animals:  Horses, cats and hens

-         Forestry with horses  -

-         Guided walks:  Elk, beaver and forest birds, traditional use of forest plants, Norwegian forestry,  food by camp – fire

-         Traditional and creative handicraft and felting of wool

-         Old leisure time activities  -

-         Winter adventures:  We welcome  guests for a traditional, Norwegian Christmas with long, blue mornings, snow, sledge- rides with horses, jingle-bells and torchlights in winterwoods ...
